PC-E 85mm tilt shift change by Nikon not expensive
I sent in a new PC-E 85mm lens altered to have the tilt and shift on the same axis. This is a simple modification with the replacement of the data cable with a longer one and changing out the adjustment knobs for smaller ones that will not hit the camera when using the lens.
The Nikon charge for this service was $138 which I consider reasonable and a good deal. It took 5 business days in total from when I shipped the lens to Nikon to when I received it back.
I bought the lens new as a USA copy to be sure I did not have any problems getting the work done and used and import PC-E lenses are priced too high to be a viable choice.
Regardless of the merits of the change with tilt and shift on the same axis, the cost to have the modification done was low and now that the longer data cable is installed I can easily switch it back to the original orientation myself should I wish to do so in the future.
