These pictures are really amazing. They look almost surreal, as if you photoshopped the birds together.
I mean this in a good way! Really impressive work.
Thank you.
One thing for sure, I could not have made such captures using my DSLR's (D700, D300, D7000), and my (heavy) Nikon glass.
The NX30 and the 16-50 PZ's combined form factor (small size & low weight) becomes an extension of my physical self in a way my DSLR's never could.
This 'One-Handed Shoot' shoot involved about a 100 degree 3 dimensional range when looking toward the beach, with the beach as 12:00 and my left 9:00 to about 1:00 to my right. This area was defined for me by the eastward breeze (my right to left) along the beach. The birds could fly toward me and grab the food which I tossed to them with my left hand. They prefer facing into the wind (giving them an almost a free ride)
During the shoot I am quickly moving my lens in all directions, up, down, left, right, and also moving my eye level to varied heights, all to try to capture these birds of under-rated beauty.
The shots along the sand were shot via the LCD fully extended from the camera, giving me a 'handle' to hold and shoot two handed, once I placed some food on the sand.
I'd like to think my varied vantage points led to your 'photoshopped' comment.
Thank you for your very kind words.
You constantly amaze me on shooting birds with that tiny zoom. You have done it, I have to get that lens. Now I have to make an excuse to get another NX camera.
Thank you.
As one photographer to another, I am glad to put you in that position.
I sure wish I bought that one time $300 NX3000 with the 16-50 PZ.
