Yes using a prime lens is good too they have wider aperture and better (T).. they are perfect in studio shooting and photo sessions when you use natural lighting and don't need to change the focal length. They are lighter and cheaper than zoom lenses as well. But you will have to change them when you need different focal lengths.
I understood that you bought a canon 6D which I also use now after the 60D. did you find troubles with continuous shooting?
