'Lost' electronic first curtain exposure feature on 600D

Hi

At the risk of asking a dumb question I’m a bit baffled by my Canon 600D. In Live View mode by default doesn’t it always have Electronic First Curtain on with no option to disable. So in LV, the mirror stays up all the time and when fire shutter it exposes with electronic first curtain, finishes with mechanical curtain, and mirror stays up after, so near vibration free.

When using to date, when shutter fired in Live View mode it acted like this and there was just a quiet noise.

But now in Live View when shutter fired, the mirror comes down, mechanical shutter exposes, then mirror goes up back to Live View with the kerclunk expected of a none EFC camera.

The feature is key for my use as have it on a microscope where vibration free is essential.

I have been playing round with settings today but reset them all in case something was left oddly. Also reinstalled the current Firmware 1.0.2

The only thing have done different today was experiment with HD out to TV via an HDMI cable. The TV was on reflection in standby rather than fully off, but camera was off when connected. But if something got zapped wouldn’t have thought it would be so selective a fault.

The flash housing is closed properly.

Any insight appreciated. Thanks.
David
