Heron with SX60

Shot in jpeg, PP on snapseed; Handheld from car.

It was challenging to get the exposure correct due to their contrasting colors and here's what I could manage.

The most widespread heron in India, the Black-Crowned Night Heron feeds mostly at night (thus the name), in areas that are hunted by other herons and egrets during the day. The breeding habitat is fresh and salt-water wetlands throughout much of the world.

They have bright red eyes as adults (the juveniles have amber eyes that turn red before they become adults).

They can take some amazingly large fish for their size. These birds stand still at the water's edge and wait to ambush prey, mainly at night or early morning. During the day they rest in trees or bushes.

Thanks for looking.
