Correction, Skippy,

Actually the S110 lens is not faster. It ranges from f2.0 at 24mm to f5.9 at 120mm. While the G15 ranges from f1.8 at 28mm to f2.8 at 140mm and is better corrected in addition. The lens on the G15 is quite wonderful.

I'm in agreement with you. I just bought another G15 from the Canon refurb site. I never did give the G15 I had a good chance. I sold it soon after I got it because I happened upon a deal on a G1-X and felt the G15 was redundant, if not inferior. I only managed about 200 shots with the G15 and although they looked promising, that wasn't enough time to really get to know that camera. So I'm no expert there but, I have owned a G9, G12, G1-X, S100 and S110 so I kinda know my Powershots a little.

I have an Olympus XZ-2 which I don't like that much, not sure why. I'm going to match up the G15 to the XZ-2 and do a little shoot out, if you will. Should be interesting because on paper, the XZ-2 is better. My previous results differed from the "paper", so we'll see. I'll try to be scientific about it, as best I can.

Good for you! I'll be anxious to read your comments about it.

I find that in good light, it is hard to tell the difference between the G1X and the G15. But as the light dims into evening, there is more and more difference in the G1X-II favor. The G1X (both 1 and II) make higher IQ images due to their larger sensors. But the G15 is both smaller and has a longer zoom range -- so it has its place in the scheme of things also. I use both cameras.

I'm sure the G15 will work out fine for me. I know it's limitations and I plan to use it in good light most of the time anyway. It's a nice walk around camera with good reach although it tends to get soft on the long side. I have other cameras that I can turn to for low light work or where I need excellent image quality.

The G1-X I liked at lot. Wouldn't hesitate to get another clean one. The G1-X II on the other hand, I have mixed feelings about. I doubt I would spring for another one. I was happy to sell the one I had.
