I'm sure you know this, but this is a manual lens. And even if it wasn't it would be when mounted with an adapter.

Not trying to discourage you. I have an old Canon 50mm f1.8 mounted via an adapter, and it's great. Once I get better at manual focusing, I'm thinking about getting the Super Takumura f1.4 and adapter for my NX1100 too.

Enjoy!

Isn't this the radioactive (slightly) lens, or is that a different one?

It is indeed. It's because of the trace amount thorium on the inner lens.

The prohibited stuff in the old lens is one of the reason why they are better than the new modern lens. It would cost so much more now to produce a similar glass quality.

The thorium will cause the lens to yellow, thus making the image a bit warm. The yellowing len can be fix by putting under the UV light (such as the sun) for a lengthy time.

Anyways, the Samsung NX - M42 adapter are easy to find.

I found one on Amazon. I just needed to specify if there was an adapter necessary. Someone on Ebay was advertising the lens as compatible with the nx300 but it mentioned nothing about an adapter.

The compatibility issue has three aspects to consider. First is there an adapter made? Likely the answer is yes, if the answer to item two is also yes - that being what is the register distance  - some lenses would, in their native cameras, focus at a point well BEHIND where the sensor is placed in a mirrorless camera, as there is no mirror box required.. this can be overcome by making an adapter that pushes the rear of the adapted lens far enough forward to allow focusing on the sensor.

The smaller image circle is not an issue as the sensor if APS sized is smaller than the original 35mm film size. What is difficult is where the original camera had a register distance that would place the focus convergence in FRONT of the sensor. To bring the lens CLOSER in is obviously impossible, so an adapter with a supplementary lens to alter the effective register distance would be required.. reducing optical quality immensely. Most 35mm SLR and many rangefinder lenses (but NOT those, for instance from the elderly Contax la, lla, llla series for instance) will be fine however.

If the legacy lens relies upon electric rather than mechanical linkages (like Canon EOS lenses) there may be no way of selecting a given aperture other than a very expensive adapter.

I hope this helps. Maybe the forum needs a 'sticky' on such common issues?
