Unless it has an updated sensor in the range of 24 mp, I would not be interested. I want better image quality including resolution, dynamic range and low noise at high ISO. I have not seen any significant improvements or reasons to upgrade in the past 5 years or so. I have no idea what Canon is doing but without significant improvements, there seems no reason for us long time users to buy new gear.

You want a sensor that beats Canon's APS-C flagship that just came out a few months ago...on a Rebel, of all things? Would you also like a pink unicorn with that?

This one will either have a 70D sensor derivative if Canon has finally solved the yield issue, or a T5i sensor derivative if they haven't. Expecting anything else is setting yourself up for a disappointment.

It will only beat the flagship in certain aspects a little bit for people who can user it, and it will totally loose in many others. There are reasons, that action camera doesn´t need great DR at base ISO, and it doesn´t need to be highest resolution. And I agree. And while they put already old sensor in the flagship, I pretty expect they put better one in another camera, and just cripple AF, handling and other stuff. It´s pretty healthy to do. Anyway I will not buy any other Canon cam with this 20Mpx sensor anyway. They won´t get me for the same sensor. And not only me...
