It doesn't really have anything to do with the various formats. If you want a deeper DOF -- close the lens, if you want a shallower DOF -- open it up. The difference between m4/3 and FF in crop factor is about 2x, so that's by how much you need to multiply the f-stop on FF to achieve the same results.

The problem only arises when your lens can't close or open to the aperture you want.
