Re: Some shots with E-M1+40-150 & D810+70-200
I'm not a pro and shoot mostly for personal pleasure and for my business as an architect but I certainly find it very useful to have a full frame Nikon plus a MFT Olympus system. I have never read about DXO ratings nor studied them, I just enjoy photography and I consider the results I have had and how I used them, even with my first DSLR, a 5MP Olympus E-M1. That camera was fantastic. I have also had stunning results with my Oly E-3 and with my Nikons, D700, D800 and now D810, as well as wonderful results with my Oly E-M1, having taken thousands of shots with all of them. They are all so good that I think there is no major difference, each type has advantages and disadvantages and, ultimately, it comes down to which brand you like, which one suites the type of shooting you enjoy doing, which has a lens selection you need/want and what your budget is. I am extremely happy with my E-M1 and am amazed at how well it performs compared to my D810. IMO, my D800 & D810 is ultimately better overall but, it is almost twice the price and much heavier and much more bulky. I know my Nikon better so, when I am pressured for the ultimate result and/or want the absolute best possible image I can produce, I take my Nikon gear but, my Olympus equipment is what I carry every day and on some trips due to its amazing compactness, weight and quality. I know that I could have bought a Nikon DX body for less than I paid for my E-M1, but I just like Olympus equipment... I may be a bit crazy but I love pulling out a camera that is not seen on every corner. I took a few more comparison shots today too and will post some later this week when I have a chance.
Here's an old 5MP shot from my E-1. I took this in Berlin in 2007, hand held with my fisheye, note the blurred person there who was walking.
