I think you should define "serious". You can be serious about getting the best out of inexpensive equipment, or you can be "serious" about doing your best about perfecting your technique, or you can be "serious" in the sense that you get paid for your videos and need to provide material that is above a certain standard.  I think you mean the first two, but still, it's not a video camera--it's a stills camera first with video on the side.

In the meantime, you should be aware of the NX300 video codec quality issue:

You won't notice this in most regular videos where you walk around and your objects move around, but stationary objects or very low contrast objects might be an issue.
