It all happened very fast and I really didn't have time to set up.

I don't bother with those opportunities any more, myself. (Been there. . . )

So, you think my shots are fuzzy just because of low shutter speed? Or hand held? Or both?

You're kidding, right? What do YOU think?

Me?

Well......uh......

probably low shutter speed, or hand held, or both.

Man, this sack cloth really itches!

I'd be a better with general BIF if I had the passion for it,

Me neither, and in general I don't like birds. But, I like Humming birds. They are very courageous considering there small size. The males will get right up into my face and buzz me. And, a photo is the only good way to get a really good look at one.

but I don't so don't make much of an effort. Where passion drives me an effort is made to find out how lazy, casual, or disciplined I have to be for the quality I want to walk away with. It's a process I try to refine in the field.

Well here you are correct. For me to get this shot right I would have to use a tripod, a remote release and maybe even flash.

Until you try this several more times in the same manner, trying to insure your techniques are perfect. . . this is how you find out your potential for this sort of thing (as well as the gear), and what techniques you need to utilize for the type of result you seek.

Well in my defense, I have set up in the past with a tripod and a nice f/3.5 135mm Takumar and waited for two hours. The damn bird just didn't show up!

You should be able to find me in my monk's cell doing penance if you need me.
