NX30 @ 16-50 PZ - Remote Viewfinder Cold Weather 'Test'
3

Well I was sitting in the car and figured I'd try a Remote Viewfinder shoot.

By the bay it was +20 F (-6 C) with a 20 mph (32 kph) breeze (constant wind).

I placed my NX30 on my mini tripod and wrapped the strap snugly and ice picked three holes to set my tripod in (after my camera having tipped over onto the ice).

Set Remote Viewfinder, Shutter Priority, threw a bit of cat food in front of the camera and then walked back to my car, 30' (9 meters) and waited.

The birds were plentiful, plentiful smart that is.

Over 14 minutes I shot 23 images, mostly to keep my connection live.

I got one 'keeper' after a more than 50% crop.

The birds would not go near the camera. The wifi-connection to my tablet worked perfectly, even the zoom. The NX30 battery was not aware it was cold I guess, not bad for a 14 minute sit on the ice.

Lesson learned: I need to create a blind to hide my camera next time.

Once I grabbed my camera and got back in my car, at least 50 birds immediately dived on the food and ate it all.

Well, I learned a lesson, two that is, ice pick first and a blind.

Here is the one shot my shoot produced, not perfect but a good reminder of lessons learned:
