That is what I did a few years ago but for slightly different reasons. Was looking for a Sigma 100-300/4 and found one in Canon being sold by a wildlife shooter. Since good lenses are generally always more costly that a camera, plus my brother, the pro, who primarily shoots LF had a Canon system for scouting work, I bought a Canon 20D at the time to use the lens. Love the lens, so the 20D got updated to a 30D and then a 40D and finally to a 60D. Still works fully with the 60D although I am not sure about camera beyond that as the lens is a non-DG so can't have the firmware updated. Also acquired a Tokina AT-X AF Pro 300/2.8 II in Canon mount (it actually cost me less than the Sigma zoom). With the exception of a Canon 50/1.8 II, A Tamron 90/2.8 Macro and a Sigma 18-125/3.5-5.6 my Canon system is mainly dedicated to long lenses. I can see the possibility of acquiring a Sigma 150-600 Sport in my future and maybe selling off some of the others. Still thinking about getting a Sigma 150-500 for my Pentax system so I would have coverage from 10mm to 500mm.

Hi Kent,

As I said I have the Bigma 50-500mm, the screw drive version, it's only just sharp enough at the long end, as far as the tests go 150-500 is a fair bit softer, so I would try it before buying.
