how do i get a higher iso?

I would recommend that you also get a beginners book on photography that will explain the core concepts around the technical aspects as well as composition etc.

Another option might be to take a course.

One books I would suggest is Tony Northrup's DSLR Book: How to Create Stunning Digital Photograph. There are many others - do a search on Amazon. I would recommend the paper copy because most of photography books do not translate well to the kindle.

wow thank you!

yes I need to learn more because I just love this camera and some photos are just amazing but then others are blah

That is the nature of photography.  I think the top photographers in the world say the same about their own photos.
