I've recently come to the conclusion that for anyone with children, video is extremely important, so I picked up a used GH4. So far I am impressed at what I can do with RAW files in most conditions, but am not so impressed with JPEGs. Here are a couple questions I have.
Does anyone set the WB or color to shift away from blue or "cool" colors towards yellow/amber "warm colors? I've found for me the JPEGs look "richer" when I really play with colors.
Does anyone turn down or off the sharpening (I've seen this suggestion for video) and NR? I am pretty sure sharpening is aggressive and turns out of focus areas into what looks like noise or a very digital look. Most things are not very smooth.
I read that some complain about micro four thirds as looking noisy and digital and from I have seen this could very well be due to over sharpening amplifying those problems. If I start with RAW files I can get very similar results as with my Nikon FX camera.
If I shot jpg stills with my GX7 I would turn NR to -5, sharp to -2 and +1 Sat with the Natural style or 0 Sat with Standard style. I would also warm up to taste as you already discovered. Not sure about the GH4 and I don't do video so take this with a grain of salt. And, as others have said, adjust away until you get the output you want.
