What people do not realize is that all ILC cameras are in fact made with a mirror to save retooling the production lines and for the mirrorless a skilled craftsman then removes the mirror assembly carefully and reattaches the mounting. This of course explains the cost of the cameras.

Not a lot of people know this as it is a very carefully kept secret.

Just disassembled my E-M5 and, my god, you're right! Nothing in there but an open space, some random vestigial screws and brackets, along with a tiny note that, translated from Japanese, reads "Mirror was here". Finally an answer to why mirrorless costs more than cameras that come with the extra part. Now, the next mystery, where have all those little mirrors gone?

Shhhh...let's just keep this little trade secret amongst us thread-mongers, don't want to undercut the mirrorless strategy .
