I'm hoping Olympus would enter the 43 compact fixed lens market to compete against the LX100 and in some ways the RX100 / G7X

Either a fixed focal or short fast zoom will do for me as long as the body is compact and has a usable EVF

This will entice users to experience the beauty of the 43 system and hopefully migrate to ILS cameras + lenses

Cheers,

I actually think the opposite  the better the fixed lens cameras become the less most folk will need to go down the interchangeable road. I was just given an FZ1000 for Christmas by my wife, I had been humming and hawing between it and the LX100 so she surprised me and made up my mind for me { not unusual  }. And even with its 1" sensor it is a very capable camera especially in the 25-150mm FF equiv AOV where the vast majority of my shooting takes place. It also has a very decent close-up/macro setting along with its star turn 4k video. As long as you shoot at 800ISO or under and do not need UWA or very shallow DOF it really does tick a lot of boxes.

For what I shoot with mFT it could just about replace my full kit with only a relativity small image quality penalty as I shoot almost exclusively low ISO. For niche areas such as UWA , low light high ISO, or true macro I have FF gear. Interesting times for sure
