I'm using an OM-D E-M5 with the 40-150 pro + 1.4 TC in stabilization mode 1 without noticing an inability to steady the image in VF. I have mostly been trying close focus objects indoors.

I have noticed what you describe with my Panasonic 100-300 fully extended.

I even tried my second E-M5 body, both with same 2.1 FW (1.0 for lens) and found the stabilization to behave identically.
