Well technically he's got a point.

But it would only pertain to Live View and Video autofocusing (as the T5i has a more sophisticated on-sensor PDAF system). Meaning faster and more able AF in those modes.

Otherwise as mentioned they are for all intents and purposes identical.

It doesn't have a more sophisticated anything. They have the same sensor. The SL1 has Hybrid-CMOS II. Both the T4i and T5i have version 1.

Ooops thanks.  I was indeed thinking of the SL1's sensor.
