Re: Moto G camera fails to keep pictures

If I could not find photo images on my tablet or phone I might use the app "Astro", it gives an option to search for Pictures (all images will be found).  Hope that helps.

Below is a screen shot of using the File Manager that came on my tablet. It shows navigating to an image location: SD card > DCIM > Camera > 20141217_191832.jpg

I like to use the file manager that came on my phone and tablet to browse the directories and files. For more advanced file management I like to use "ES File Explorer". I like to know where all types of files / data are stored (including applications, operating system and hidden files).

Sitting here I just now took a photo with my tablet with the camera that came on the device and default settings. The photo went to SD card/DCIM/Camera/

The device camera app normally stores the photos as jpg in device storage/DCIM/Camera/*.* or if you have an external SD card it may look like SD card/DCIM/Camera/*.*. Some devices will add 100android after Camera in the path. Some third party cameras may create their own path for storing photos. Editing apps will specifically store the edited image in their prescribed directory (your gallery may or may not see the images in these directories).

Until you totally understand the Android file system I would suggest using the default camera that is native to your device and allow the photos to go where it defaults. This way you should be able to always find them in your gallery.

One thing that bothers me about your question is that you said your phone is rooted. Being rooted suggests to me that you must be an advanced user and already know all about file management and all that I have suggested.

I would like to hear about how you make out on this issue of "can't find the photos". The photos are there for sure unless you delete them (and they are in a jpg format).

Good Luck and don't hesitate to ask additional questions.
