Hi there,

Yes, all cameras have lag of some sort between a shutter sequence being initiated and the image being captured.

With the Fuji system, most lenses have a lag of 100ms wide open, and a little more than 200ms stopped down. This is fine, and predictable, perfectly usable.

However, what makes the Fuji X-Series performance rather poor, especially when used with the the 56mm, is that the lag can 'sometimes' increase to as much as half a second (500ms), and when it does this, it is not predictable but appears to be related to last manual focus movement rotation of the lens.

Half a second lag, in manual focus, and unpredictable, for a camera and lens costing together in excess of $2000 is poor, and in some cases makes the camera very difficult to use in situations where lesser cameras excel. The unpredictable nature of the lag time means that attempting to anticipate a shot in real life grab shot situations is very difficult.

In answer to your last question, I can only hope to raise awareness of the issue so that it is brought to Fuji's attention. The unfortunate thing is that the slow AF that people generally shoot with masks out this problem to most people, they never see it, so getting any sort of backing that there is even a problem is somewhat difficult...

Will try to get some exposure on this if I can.

Thank you for your interest.

Don't you know how consumer math works? With FUJI we have the fastest focusing camera in the world at any time. Just ask Fuji.
