Hi all,

just got a new FZ200 and I have a question about the EVF/LCD. I mostly shot in Aperture mode or full manual. On my other cameras, as I adjust the exposure compensation in A-mode or the exposure in M-mode what I see on the LCD adjusts to the settings. As I underexposure the image on the LCD gets darker and brighter as I overexpose.

I can't seem to find any setting on the FZ200 that allows the camera to function this way.

I see that if I half press the shutter, the LCD displays what the final image will look like. But while half pressing rotating the wheel to adjust EC seems to be disengaged. So it becomes a trial and error cycle of half press -> ec -> half press......

Is there a way to change the LCD display to always display the exposure as set?

thanks

Marc

Hi Marc,

I don't think so. I believe the FZ200 remains wide open until you half-press the shutter, which causes the aperture to actually stop down. My Olympus film SLR worked that way as well and had a separate button you can press with your left thumb to stop down for preview.

I don't know what is wrong Marc, but my FZ200 has live view on the lcd and ev depending on which I have selected, and changes I make in compensation cause the image to brighten or darken as appropriate. Also the Histogram reflects the changes.

Warm regards,

Let go of the button Marc and you will see the changes. If you hold the button half way in it is locked until you let go :-)

Warm regards,

Sorry - My FZ200 does indeed darken as I move EC left and brighten as I move it right. I was thinking of manual mode when I replied that it remains bright, which it does - but then EC does not apply! I'm not sure why they don't work the same since changes to settings in manual mode are essentially EC.

You learn something new every time you press the shutter
