<snip> I don't understand all those hyping and blogging this is the best experience ever, unfortunately, beyond the fact that it delivers such a beautifu IQ and colour rendering, Fuji X must be one of the poorest low light event shooting solutions I encounterd in my 35 yrs photography career.
In my case, I tried to understand it. That's why I bought an entry-level X system consisting of the X-E1, 18-55, and 60.
I love to shoot sporting events, in particular volleyball, and call me stubborn and I did try to use my Fuji gear. Here's one shot I took wherein I adjusted my timing (that I used to enjoy with my D800) and caught it on first try.
X-E1 with 18-55/2.8-4, heavily cropped in Adobe Photoshop Express.
During the championship celebrations where I only have the X-E1 for wide shots (the D800 has a 70-200mm slapped on it) I am disappointed that 3/4 of the photos are crap. In a previous conference, I have my J1 + 10/2.8 with me, and I got 100% return.
Yep, I know what you mean. It is true we might snag a shot once in a while, but the Fujis don't make the task easy. After successfully using Nikons in many trips to Northern Vietnam tribal villages, my last trip was just with eh Fujis, and I just kicked myself for losing/missing so many nice opportunities/moments because the Fujis just do not work quickly enough, either AF or response in MF, especially in dim light where I get many of my photos normally...
I guess we all have a choice, and I can see where mine might be heading. Shame, because in many other respects, the Fuji equipment is just what I needed, but alas...
Thanks for the comments.
