Good, Rugged Little Camera

I grabbed this to augment my Olypmus e-620 which has been a workhorse for me over the years, but with grandchildren and looking for a more convenient "snapshot" solution I wanted to get something readily pocket-able with a decent feature set, and reliable automatic settings.

This has taken shots from the beach in Saco Bay, Maine, to shots in the pouring rain in Bakewell, Derbyshire, England. While not the level of IQ of my DSLR, this camera has performed perfectly for what I wanted. It's easily stuffed into any pocket, feels good and sturdy, and with a LCD protector, is impervious to abuse and weather.

The zoom is a tad shorter than I'd like, but with the brigher lens, I figure that's a compromise I was willing to live with. It's not been a major issue at all. The one thing I would really have liked is the ability to shoot in RAW -- that will probably come out in the TG-4 or 5, but I wasn't willing nor interested in waiting another year to see if that would be the case since I have been eyeing up the TG2 since it had come out.

If you are after a simple-to-use, reliable shooter that you can take pretty much anywhere, this camera is difficult to beat.
