Im looking for some expertise on using a Minolta 58mm MC Rokker lens on my canon T5i. I know I can buy an adapter for the nens but im concerned the f-stop funtion will not work properly since the minolta camera seems to use a little catch on the camera to adjust thr f-stop. Will the f-stops still workon the T5i or will they only work on the old Minolta camera body? Aditionally, if I did buy an adapter to use this lens would I need one with or without a lens built into the adapter for the T5i?

Thanks for any advise or help.

The Minolta 58mm MC Rokker has a manually adjusted aperture so there is no problem with changing the f-stop.

Unfortunately the lens wont focus to infinity without an adapter with a built in lens.

Using legacy lenses is really best the mirrorless cameras. They do not need a adapter with a built in lens and you have 10x magnification in the EVF. This greatly assists in precisely adjusting the focus.

Adapters with corrective lens elements to maintain infinity focus will degrade the image quality and also the maximum aperture. It's generally best to avoid these if using with EOS DSLRs, though they can be adapted without the corrective elements to the mirrorless EOS M: Canon FL/FD, Minolta MC/MD, Konica AR, Leica M.

The following lenses can be easily adapted to EOS DSLRs with simple ring adapter with no corrective lens elements needed: Nikon non-AI, AI, AI-S, AF D (AF G need special adapter to operate the aperture), Pentax M42 screw mount, Pentax K (though may need to shorten the aperture actuating arm), Contax/Yashica, Leica R, Olympus OM
