This myth in comparing zooms with primes needs to be disabused. Getting the shot is faster and more certain most of the time with a prime lens, simply because you do not have to take the time to adjust the focal length. But, the most important part of getting the shot is anticipation. I find I can get shots faster shooting with primes, and hand holding my flash. This allows me to quickly adjust the direction of the flash with a flick of the wrist, and is much quicker than having the flash on camera.
