What lens to get with a new Canon EOS 700D?

Hi,

Recently I decided to step into a world of DSLR cameras and purchase EOS 700D as my first DSLR camera after a long search for the one that would suit my budget and my needs. The question of lenses however remains open for me, since there's a vast variety of them and I want to purchase the right one/ones for me.

Most of my photos will be of different landscapes, architectures and portraits. Dealing with low light situations and ability to create a good shallow depth of field are also required. I don't see myself dive into a wildlife or sports photography and until now my use of zoom was very limited and rarely required. Also macro photography has a little interest for me, for now at least.

I do put accent on a quality of course, in terms of a good focusing abilities, bokeh, flare, build quality and so on. My main thought is that I prefer to spend a little more to get something really good, instead of paying less and getting something mediocre that would require a change in a couple of years or disappoint me with the results.

The maximum budget that I am thinking to spend on the lenses is around 600-650$. Though I understand a good lens is one of the most important parts of the whole purchase, I'm thinking that spending more for someone who only begins with the DSLR photography wouldn't be that wise.

I'll be glad to hear your thoughts and any help would be much appreciated!
