Does anyone else's LX100 sound noisy... like a grinding motor sound?

Just received my LX100 today. Thrilled!

However it seems weirdly noisy to me. When I hold the screen right up against my ear, I hear a constant noise. I believe it's mechanical, because when I zoom out, the noise gets a little deeper / more tunnel-like, as if the sound is being shaped by the lens. The quality of the sound is kind of static-like, sort of like RF interference. But my gut tells me this is a noisy motor that's spinning the whole time.

It's definitely not due to any optical activity: If I put it the camera in manual focus, manual aperture, put on the lens cap on for good measure, I still hear the sound. How loud is it? if I use the view finder, I can just barely hear the sound even without pressing the camera to my ear.

Extremely unnerving since I would expect a digital camera to be completely silent when it's not busy focusing.

Does anyone else have this problem? Or, can you confirm that your LX100 is 100% silent when powered on and you press it against your ear?

Thanks.
