Re: GH4 video judder/strobing - a solution

I've tried hand-held with and without the stabiliser (by hand-held I usually squat, and steady my elbow on my knee), I've also tried tripod smooth slow panning, 24fps just seems to judder around 4 times a second.

I find it odd that raising the frame rate by 20% to 29.97fps, panning is totally smooth - even if I pan 20% faster!  The footage also seems far more 'stabilised' - just smooth.

It's almost that I have to pan at a snail's pace to avoid judder at 24fps, maybe 15% the speed of that at 29.97fps.

This judder seems to be fairly widely reported, even with previous GH models, having said that so many people don't find it an issue - though this maybe non-pro's, I'm not sure.

Tomorrow I shall try playing a blu-ray through the TV, hoping this will be fine - and the issue is with the Mac LCD scan rate - or some-such.  Though having said that, the judder even on the camera's LCD monitor at 24fps induces sickness (a 4 times a second judder), while is smooth at 29.97fps. One would have thought the camera's LCD would display smooth pans at 24fps - everything in the camera should be optimised together?
