Need help setting up a 1200D

It's not mine, a parent at my daycare bought it, she's totally a DSLR newbie and wants my help to set it up right tomorrow. I have only little experience with Canon cameras, but I assume they can be set like cameras from other brands. I just have a couple of questions

I think I can set it to Auto ISO (probably on by default) and I assume the camera is smart enough to select the appropriate ISO in most situations. But can you set an ISO ceiling as well? ISO 3200-6400 probably based on the state of Canon APS-C sensors.

Any noise reduction, auto-gradation and other settings like that I should be aware of? Are they notorious and should be turned off/decreased?

Obviously that parent would shoot JPEG only. I assume there are some kind of JPEG settings, right?

Live histogram and grid are available in a Canon camera of this class?

How reliable is C-AF with entry level Canons? What about focus points with S-AF? Can you generally shoot with all focus points or is it better to use the center point?

Do entry level Canons have a tendency to under or over expose?

How good is liveview shooting? How lens dependent is it? I have my doubts she wants to shoot with the OVF in the long run.

Do all settings apply in all modes or does AUTO mode change things?

Anything else you wish to add, please feel free.
