Is DSLR Glass Investment Smart?

I am considering the purchase of a Nikon 14-24 2.8. I enjoy wide angle photography and enjoyed my 11-16mm when I had a DX camera. I already own a nice 35 mm 1.4, 24-70mm 2.8, and 70-200mm 2.8.

Ever time I buy an expensive lens I think to myself that I am buying a lens that I will used for 10+ years. I have had my 70-200mm for ten years, taken thousands of photos, and still think it takes outstanding photos. Great value.

With the advancements in mirrorless cameras, will our DSLR lens be worth much less in 5 years when many of us will be using mirrorless cameras?
