SX60 Cold Morning
9

Finally a clear morning. Around here, this time of year, clear, sometimes means cold.

The thermometer shot is just to verify how crazy cold it was.

The rest are edited in WPG. Basic stuff only. Not resized but cropped.

Observations: (after all, this is a gear forum.   )

The BIF were done in the sports mode, which still does allow EC. Also the burst time is real fast, not DSLR fast, but close. The black out or the freeze time in the view finder feels like maybe 1/4 sec. This makes BIF workable. Not great just OK. The keeper rate for the ridiculously fast ducks was about 4%. The slower geese was maybe 15%. Eagles and the like, are much slower, and should be easier. (with practice of course.)

If I could keep the bird in the square, it focused and fast. Now this is very good lighting from behind me. Overcast would be not so good. Keeping the bird in the view finder at full zoom will need a slow bird. I could not keep the ducks in at full zoom.

The moon was easy in manual on a tripod. Fingers were numb in a short time though. They tell me the moon is near its smallest or furthest away right now.

In the moon shot, the SX60 noise was more noticeable then normal, but the extra reach was welcome.

The cold hands liked the rubber grip.

Thanks for viewing. No tests today, just glad to see the sun

Ken
