Hi

I want to know what's the maximum video recording time for this camera, I understand is almost 30 minutes, but someone told is "unlimited'', until the card is full

Thank you

I need a camera for recording a class of an hour and a half, on a regular basis, and don't want invest in a camcorder just to be used once a week, so I was considering to buy a bridge camera with still photography also, but with enough recording time

Thanks again

At the present time the import laws require that any DSLR have a maximum video recording time of 29 min and 59 sec -- ie., just under 30 minutes. So, all DSLRs have a limit of that per segment. You can get longer recording time by joining segments, but none of them will record straight through past 30 min. That is my understanding and this by law, to protect the video camera industry.

There was a piece on the DPR front page news a few months ago about an attempt by a group of manufacturers to get that law repealed, but I have heard nothing more since then.

Thank very much Dale for your help

Besides the bureaucratic issue, I think also there is problem with certain cameras that when you use them for recording video for extended periods of time (20 min, then starts again, another 20min, and then again) after a while , the camera (circuitry) gets very hot, and in some cases switches off by itself.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200 does record video up to 100 min

I got a very useful tip by B&H,which I didn't knew about , and that is an external recorder (Atomos - Ninja 2), although is not compatible with all cameras.

Stay well,

David
