Re: Camera Has Apparently Died

Well as luck would have it ........ I'll apparently be looking for a new PS now. I was using the camera late this past week and the lens fully extended upon powering off and will not retract. It gives me some type lens error message and says it will auto power down.

No kidding! I have the same problem!. Exactly the same, while turning On, makes some noises like it "tries" to unlock, then the error comes... I asked the Canon service and it cost 200eu to repair that... funny enough I look used and thats the price they sell

My first thought is to just get another G12 off eBay as I'm unfamiliar with the newer PS with a similar screen but thought I'd ask for suggestions??

I am in the same position and really thinking about it... many G's have pass now but I still think the size-model of the g12 is unique and I am also used to that... The g7x look great! but for 700eu I dont know if I would.

I am looking for an "open box" (or being able to check the use) for the price of 200, else I will save a little.

BTW, I opened the disassemble the camera, manage to retract the lens, re-assemble and when I turn it On again, surprise! it fully extended again and lock it self, I guess it has to deal with software or about the sensor that gets the position of the lens.

I have and prefer nikon dslr s but Powershots are the best PS
