I'm like the 35 mm focal length on a crop it is great for people and low light. The shorter focal length would be better for outside shots of architecture, but not quite as good when the light goes down.

What do you want the lens to do? I find the view of the 35 to be most useful on crop bodies. The 35 F2IS does everything well, with fast and accurate AF, it is sharp to the corners, has excellent flare resistance...I don't think you can do better for a general purpose lens. For outdoor work, a good zoom will do, mI have of the time.

I like the 35 mm focal length so much that I have 3.
