Help with upgrade from 300D

I have been reading various advise seeking questions in the forum, and from all the advises, I see a clear pattern: It completely depends on what you shoot. As my situation is different from others, I would like to seek some advice on upgrading my gear.

My situation : I mostly shoot family, friends, kids birthday parties and outdoor landscapes/sceneries occasionally. I have canon EF 50 mm lens. I am very pleased with the results I get from the 50 mm lens.

Now, I am willing to spend ±2500 $. With this budget, I felt going for a 6D + Tamron 24-70 mm F2.8 VC would be a good choice. But, after reading some remarks on 6D that it might not be suitable for fast action photography (kids jumping/running :-)), I am concerned. Ofcourse, 6D is a huge step from my current 300D. I want to make the best possible investment and well informed decision.

I appreciate any advise on finding a good choice. Thanks.
