Hi all,

I am getting into car photography and videoing, I have just upgraded from a 450d to a 700d primarily for the video function.

When I video the car going past, the car appears out of focus and distorted.

Is there a setting/tip to improve this- something obvious?

My Galaxy S3 seems to be doing better than this!

Many thanks,

not an expert at video, but what I see:

(a) The car changes distance, starting farther and coming closer the camera as it goes past.  The lens focus does not appear to change, so it cannot be in focus the entire time.  Besides which it appears to be focused somewhat closer than the roadway..

(b) what shutter speed? I don't see "distortion", but the car is moving and I think there is motion blur in each frame because the shutter speed isn't fast enough to freeze motion.

On the other hand, a too fast shutter speed would give unnatural motion across the screen.  I think you either let the car blur with motion, or pan with the car and let the back/foreground blur with motion.

IMHO (I could be wrong), YMMV
