f you have an Olympus body, than the 17mm or, even better, the 12mm comes with the AF/MF snap-back feature.

That feature works just fine on my Panasonic GX1 (I have both 12mm and 17mm lenses).

That's interesting, I've seen posts in a lot of GX7 vs OMD discussions say that while the 17mm works great on the GX7, the camera doesn't recognize the snap back feature. I'll have to try it on my son's GX7 next time I visit him.

I used the 17mm/1.8 both on my GX1 and on my GX7. Snap ring works fine. The only thing is that you have to push a button for the enlargement of the image in your LCD or EVF. I don't have the 17mm anymore so I can't check, and I can't recall exactly, but it was very swift and easy and intuitive, a button under my thumb. I think it was the left one of the 4 way thingy. Main reason why I can't recall it is 'cause it got in my muscle memory within minutes and was something totally automatic ever after.

Edit: ah, memory kicks in. I had to press the centre button (menu) and then the left button. It went in one swift movement, rolling my thumb.
