I agree.

The 9-18 is a good lens and is not too large, especially when contracted for carrying/storage. Unless you are a pixel peeper or plan on mural size prints its range of angles of view more than compensate for whatever optical superiority some of those primes might have.

For me it is a perfect walkabout lens, and the extra wide angle ability from 9-13mm is great for landscapes and travel.
