Hands-on Experience w/ 40-150 f2.8
2

The Olympus Rep stopped by the local camera store to show off the new Olympus 40-150 f2.8 lens. Since I had the lens on pre-order my salesman gave me a heads up on the Olympus Rep visit. He had an actual production version of the lens. My initial impression is wow!!!. The lens is impressive. It handled really well on both the E-M1 and E-M5. Both cameras were mine and they had the RRS L-Bracket on them. The AF is very quick. The lens is actually not heavy. We compared it to a Canon L 70-200/f4.0 and the Olympus is about the same size and felt lighter. The lens hood is really neat! He also had the upcoming 1.4xTC with him and it works really good. After playing with it for about an hour I am very pleased that I got one on pre-order. My salesman uses MFT and has a FT50-200 and it sounds like he will be getting the new lens.

I did take a few photos with the lens and also a few photos that my salesman took of me handling the lens. They are in a Flickr album at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/david_l_black/sets/72157648617334877/

Here is one of me holding the new lens:
