yes, the G7X is clearly better at 100mm equiv., about as much as it is worse at 24mm equiv. ;-(

So the question is what focal length you use most, and at what focal length you require maximum detail. Personally (apart from taking most shots at 24-28mm equiv.) I don't see many subjects where I would use maximum tele AND require the very best detail, while that is a frequent requirement at WA. Maximum detail for portraits? Maybe not the best idea, 8-10 MP resolution should still be plenty for that IMHO - but of course YMMV.
