SX60 - a couple of pictures with my new camera
Oct 24, 2014
Hi, after reading a lot of reviews I decided to buy the SX60 because I needed much more zoom for my son's crew races and wanted a decent EVF. I spent several hours by the river to get to know the camera and to learn how to hold the camera steady. I took many pictures and tried a couple of settings. One thing I did for all the pictures was to put the camera on Program mode and set the exposure to -1/3. Then I played around with Vivid mode and setting the sharpening up 1 notch from the default setting as well as just keeping both of those off. There was no easy way to do both at the same time. I went through my pictures and picked one of my favorites and this is what I got. I just went back to see the settings and this particular one has the sharpening set up 1 notch from the default. Also, this is at full zoom. I was sitting down on a bench and I was either hand holding it or had the camera sitting on my lap. Any feedback is welcome.

This 2nd picture was taken at full zoom, handheld probably not very steadily as I was trying to keep up with the boat. The boat is about a 1.5 miles away. There was a lot of haze and humidity over that distance. I need to work on how to hold the camera more steadily.
