First of all, that isn't a review, but a Pro & Contra for the Lens, i do love it onto my old, trusty G1 Lumix.

Pro:

A very nice and small lens, sharp, and the "Original", first Kitlens for the Lumix G1 Panasonic. Way sharp, even into the corners. Near silent & fast AF operation. Metal Bajonett Mount, not plastic like the 14-42(II). Optimal aperture setting between f/5.6-f/8 aperture. Build in OIS (Panasonic's Image Stabilizer System) works into 3 steps, and is onto the lens directly on/off switchable. (for Tripod use) Decent build quality (also there are issues, for the rubberized Zoom Ring) High resolution, it does resolve much details, check the photozone review, for instance...or here the DPReview test of course. This lens deserves a good quality UV filter (think Hoya HD 52mm, or B+W XS Pro Nano)

Contra:

No constant F/2.8 aperture (i wish it would be that way). The rubber zoom element ring easily could get wobbly after a few years, and should/must be replaced therefore. Original Lens hood (which is a plastic bajonett mount type) is way expensive, and the 3rd Party ones doesn't fit that great like the original....resolution: get way cheap a nice metal wide-angle lens hood (52mm) it does look much better then the original hood, is made of metal (aluminium) and connects via ordinary filter thread onto your lens or UV Filter, for instance.
