Maybe just misunderstanding. EFCS works the same on Samsung as it does on Sony, it works at all shutter speeds. Basically if you have EFCS on with NX30 or NX20, at all shutter speeds, the electronic curtain will start exposure, and the mechanical second curtain will finish exposure. The only thing weird about what Samsung does is call it E-Shutter instead of Electronic First Curtain.

It does not work all mechanical up to 1/4000 or 1/6000 and switch to 1/8000 automatically, if you have EFCS disabled, 1/8000 is not available. This shutter speed is available because of EFCS (basically it is a 1/6000 shutter, but with EFCS they can speed that up some since they don't have to worry about timing of the first curtain).

Come to think of what I said about mechanical shutter in NX300/3000 using only 1 shutter, I don't see how this could work so scratch that I said that (it is what it looks like though at longer shutter speeds), it has to have 2 shutter curtains, not seeing away around this to implement faster than max sync speed without using EFCS or 2 physical curtains. What I need to do is tear one apart and look at it, but mine all work right now.

So here:

NX30/NX20: Optional EFCS, works at all shutter speeds, 30 seconds to 1/8000. (if disabled range is limited to 30 seconds to 1/6000, or is it 1/4000? would have to check at home).

NX300/NX3000/et al: No optional EFCS, mechanical only. 30 seconds to 1/4000 or 1/6000 shutter.
