I never thought I'd now be the owner of a G7X when I woke up this morning!

We understand the extent of disortion correction we get at 24mm, but I also wanted to check what is going on optically with the G7X at 28mm and 35mm compared to the RX100M3.

I've used Photo Ninnja to extract uncorrected G7X and RX100M3 RAW's. The colour doesn't come out right in the G7X RAW's as they are unsupported, so I've made all the RAW's black and white to avoid this being a distraction.

I've lined the top edge of this building exactly along the top of the LCD preview display. You can see on the G7X, even at 35mm there is still a gap of unused sensor space. The RX100M3 utilises the entire vertical height of the sensor even at 24mm, so it's not surprising the RX100M3 lens outperforms the G7X at wide angles.
