SX60 - HX400 or SX50?

I had an SX40 that I loved. Sold it last fall expecting the SX60. I wanted to sell before the value dropped any more. Got top dollar out of it so that was great. Then waited. And waited. Then finally the SX60 happened a while back and I was thrilled only to read loads of negative reviews. Then kept hearing about the HX400. So I thought I'd see for myself. Called and asked if I could try two cameras and I got a "Sure you can return as long as they're mint". So confident I could keep them clean and take care of them I ordered an HX400 and SX60. I've used the SX50 and it's great so it's my fail safe.

Anyway, I wanted to post some photos for people in my shoes. So here's the deal though. I need the camera to be solid on auto. Solid enough to hand off for family shots. The reality is 95% of the time I'm just clicking away on vacation or around town with the kids. I appreciate capabilities but what makes the deal happen is what came can I pick up, turn on and shoot mindlessly. Beyond that, focal length, ease of use, connectivity, video capabilities are next on the list of importance (in no order)

The big dilemma for me in price. It's not so much the price but the difference in price. The SX50 can be had for $325 and I have all the junk I need for it, the HX400 is $450 but then I need more batteries, filter, light hood so really it's more like $500. Then the SX60 is of course $550. All little steps up and you look back and realize the SX50 is a deal!

Here are some handheld auto shots. I plan on doing some more in the next few days with set parameters.
