Hi Dan, you have a very good start.

Some general guide lines to follow might be these:

Don't over expose the moon. It is as bright as any sunlit object. (Yours looks one stop over exposed, maybe more.)

Set your noise reduction to low. (It is in the menus under "high ISO noise reduction" I believe.)

Use a tripod or something equivalent.

Use your 10 sec timer. (avoids movement.)

The moon shows more texture when not full.

I don't think you need F8 with your SX60. Unlike a DSLR, F8 has no benefit to the IQ. Some will say it is less sharp because of diffraction.

Most important is the air. It has to be clear, clear, clear. Usually the coldest nights have clearer air.

Here is one I shot with the SX50. This is not a very good example. Some others here have posted better examples from their Ultra Zoom P&S cameras.
