Which do you want upgraded and which is most likely to get an upgrade?

They've released some nice zooms in the past couple years, I've heard rumors of a new 50 1.8 IS, the 85 1.8 I think is showing some age and I guess while they're at it, the 10-22 APS-C could be upgraded to constant aperture and maybe stabilized as well.

The 300mm F4 IS is now 17 years and must be due a replacement before long as all the other telephotos from 300mm upwards have been upgraded. The 180mm macro is even older and is not as good as it should be, so perhaps we might look forward to a 180mm IS version before too long.

Talk abounds for the 100-400 to be nearing........according to rumored specs I'd like to see a rotating zoom ring over the previous push-pull besides an improved IS and optics......
100-400

(a) because no one is expecting it :D

and (b) it's the only lens in the lineup where the replacement could be priced the same, or even less, than the current model (based on the very minimal price change in the much improved 400 DO II over the orig.)

Others that wouldn't surprise me to be updated before they get to 50 /1.4/1.8 or 100-400L:

TS-E 45 f/2.8, TS-E 90 f/2.8, EF 180 f/3.5L USM Macro, EF 35 f/1.4L USM, EF 20 f/2.8 USM, EF 28 f/1.8 USM, EF 400 f/5.6L USM, EF 135 f/2.L USM, EF 24-105 f/3.5-5.6 IS STM (kidding ;) ).

when they could get the 70-300L?

I'm getting one.

when they could get the 70-300L?
Same reason some paid that much for the DO when they could get as good or better 70-300 IS non-L for half as much: because of the small, inconspicuous size that allowed entry where longer, white 300s would be refused. :D

I anticipate the following STM lenses by the end of 2015.

EF 17-40 IS STM
EF 70-300 IS STM
EF-S 18-200 IS STM
EF-M 50 or 60 mm f/2.8 IS Macro?

Canon has been releasing 3-4 STM lenses a year since 2012. With at least a EF-M mount everyh year.

2012
EF-M 18-55mm IS STM
EF-M 22mm f/2 STM
EF-S 18-135mm IS STM
EF 40mm f/2.8 STM

2013
EF-M 11-22mm IS STM
EF-S 18-55mm IS STM
EF-S 55-250mm IS STM

2014
EF-M 55-200mm IS STM
EF-S 10-18mm IS STM
EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM
EF 24-105mm IS STM

And assume a similar release, I presume they will release 3-4 in 2015. Although there is a L version, they released a EF 24-105mm IS STM. They may not replace existing L or USM lenses, just augment with STM lenses.

It makes sense that Canon would release a wide angle full frame and a telephoto full frame STM lens to support an entry level full frame. I could see the following set up:

Mirror Less (EOS M/M2)
EF-M 11-22mm IS STM, wide
EF-M 18-55mm IS STM, normal
EF-M 55-200mm IS STM, telephoto
EF-M 22mm f/2 STM, low light

Crop Sensor
EF-S 10-18mm IS STM, wide
EF-S 18-55mm IS STM, normal
EF-S 55-250mm IS STM, telephoto
EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM, low light

Full Frame
EF 17-40mm IS STM, wide [PROPOSED]
EF 24-105mm IS STM, normal
EF 70-300mm IS STM, telephoto [PROPOSED]
EF 40mm f/2.8 STM, low light

I assume/hope Canon will release a macro lens for the EF-M line. Since there is a EF-S Macro as 60mm and f/2.8, I could see a similar one, 50mm f/2 STM could be an option too.

The 18-200mm IS looks like a natural replacement for a STM lens since it was released in 2008. Other EF-S lenses could get the STM treatment.

No way it's gonna be 50 or 85. Most likely it's gonna something niche and expensive, like T/S.

Bwahaha! Never going to happen.

have you ever seen the 70-300L?

It's still white.

Where's my new 50, Canon?
The updated 50 1.8 is coming, it will be stabilized and likely ultrasonic as well. This beast will likely replace the 50 1.4 and be sold along side the current 50 1.8. The price tag will probably be more than the current 1.4 but hey, if it's as awesome as some of the more recent lens releases, it will sell!

It's not coming any time soon. It may be stabilized, it may be 2.0 not 1.8, I see no chance in hell it will be USM, it will be STM.

It's white, is it not?

50 f1.8 IS, 85 f1.8 IS, 20 f2.8 IS and 100 f2 IS will be the next non-L primes to be released.

The 16-35 f2.8 L II lens will be the next L lens that needs replacemet (maybe by a 14-24 f2.8L because I think the rumored 11-24 f4 will remain just a rumor).

The 70-200 f4L II IS to replace the actual lens that has that major USM issue. Thus the f4 new Trinity will be complete.

The 180 f3.5L Macro is also in a need of a refresh.
