EX2F Image Stabilization. When to use?

Let's keep this simple...

...and to make things easy to reference, "never use IS/VR/OIS/VC (or whatever else some other brands call it) when using a tripod.  When using a tripod (and also using a good cable release), never turn on IS because it will have a reverse effect whereby the system overcompensates, thus adding blur, if you will.

I shoot with a variety of cameras (love 'em all) and I keep IS (whether in body or on the lens) engaged all the time while holding.  Now of course, if you're shooting scenes at 1/500 or faster, the use of IS will probably not improve the quality of the IQ.

So It's not just an EX2F scenario - rather, a good guide for any camera that employs an IS/VR system.
